Clinical Database Analyst - CDI - 38h (h/f)

The IT Department of the Institut Jules Bordet (IJB) is looking for a Clinical Database Analyst (CDA) to work within the Clinical Trials Support Unit (CTSU).

The CTSU is a department of Belgium’s world-renowned cancer centre, Institut Jules Bordet, and has many years’ experience in the design, implementation and conduct of phase II, III and other clinical trials. Located in Brussels, the team consists of about 70 members, including project managers, data managers, IT specialists, and data entry staff, working in collaboration with medical specialists.


The primary role of the CDA is to set up and administer the clinical study databases and software.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

The CDA would be expected to:

  • Participate in the installation, validation and upgrade of the clinical software
  • Manage user access to the clinical databases and software
  • Administer all modules and tools that are part of the clinical software
  • Provide solutions and workarounds to resolve issues with the clinical software
  • Be responsible for all IT aspects of the set-up and management of clinical studies, in particular

    • Provide technical review of the eCRF and participate in its validation
    • Manage the eCRF versions in the clinical software and provide support in case of amendments
    • Program and maintain the eCRF dynamic actions and automatic edit checks
  • Develop reports and listings to identify potential quality issues in the clinical databases
  • Create and keep up to date study technical documents
  • Train the operational team on the clinical software and associated tools


Qualifications and Skills:

  • University degree or equivalent work experience
  • Some prior experience working with clinical studies is required. Familiarity with an EDC system would be a strong asset – in particular with Oracle Clinical, OpenClinica or Medidata Rave
  • Keen interest in seeking IT solutions to the challenges faced by academic clinical research
  • Ability to work on complex technical problems and provide highly innovative solutions
  • Attached to detail, rigorous and quality minded
  • Excellent command of written & spoken English
  • Working knowledge of SQL
